Mock Interviews

Mock interviews are a crucial part of preparing for your job search. They help you practice answering real interview questions and receive valuable feedback from industry professionals. Here’s how to make the most of your mock interview experience at Springboard.

What Are Mock Interviews?

Mock interviews simulate real-world technical and behavioral interviews with industry experts who have extensive experience conducting interviews in your field. They are designed to help you build confidence, practice your responses, and receive constructive feedback to improve your performance.

How Do I Schedule a Mock Interview?

Mock interviews can be scheduled directly from the curriculum. Each link in your curriculum corresponds to a specific type of mock interview, so make sure to follow the prompts accurately.

Steps to Schedule:

  1. Navigate to the relevant unit in your curriculum.
  2. Click the link to schedule a mock interview.
  3. Select an available time slot.
  4. Confirm your booking and add it to your calendar.

Preparing for Your Mock Interview

To maximize the value of your mock interview, be sure to:

  • Review Your Curriculum: Focus on related topics before the interview.
  • Research Common Interview Questions: Practice both technical and behavioral questions.
  • Prepare Your Resume and Portfolio: Be ready to discuss your work and past projects.
  • Test Your Technology: Ensure your camera, microphone, and internet connection are working properly.

Mock Interview Policies

Scheduling and Limits

  • You may only schedule one of each type of mock interview as prompted by the curriculum, at a time.
  • Do not schedule multiple mock interviews of the same type within a short period. Scheduling more than one at once may result in cancellations by the interviewer.
  • You get three attempts at each mock interview, in order to pass.

Rescheduling or Cancelling

You must reschedule or cancel a mock interview at least 24 hours in advance. Failing to do so three or more times will result in a penalty–review your student handbook for further details on penalties.

No-Showing

A no-show occurs when you:

  • Fail to appear for your scheduled interview.
  • Are more than 5 minutes late without prior notice.
  • Leave the interview early.
  • Are not prepared (e.g., no webcam, background noise, or lack of required materials).

If you accumulate three no-shows, this will result in a penalty–review your student handbook for further details on penalties.

Receiving Feedback

Your mock interviewer will provide verbal feedback at the end of the session, and may also send written feedback via email. Discuss your preferred feedback format at the start of the interview to ensure clarity.

After the Interview: Reflect and Improve

After your mock interview, take time to:

  1. Reflect on the feedback given and identify areas for improvement.
  2. Practice your responses to similar questions for next time.
  3. Update your resume, LinkedIn, or portfolio if relevant points were discussed.
