Making Progress in the Course

Whether you’re just getting started or you’re deep into your learning journey, staying on track in the program is key to success. Here’s how weekly and monthly goals, time estimates, project sharing, and course support all work together to help you make meaningful progress.

Weekly Points Goals

Weekly Points Goals are the number of points you choose to aim for each week, using a slider interface in your student dashboard. You can select your goal within a suggested minimum and maximum range. Your weekly goal resets every Monday and must be completed by Sunday at 11:59 PM (in your local time zone). Once you hit your target for the week, your progress counter will show that you’ve met your goal.

Note: If a calendar month ends mid-week, the system treats the following Sunday as the end of the month. For example, if June 30 falls on a Thursday, you’ll have until Sunday, July 3, to hit your weekly goals.

How Are Points Earned?

Each item in the curriculum—videos, articles, projects, exercises, and more—has a point value based on how much time and effort it typically takes to complete.

  • As you complete curriculum items and mark them as complete, you earn points.
  • 100 points = 1% progress in your course.

Understanding Time Estimates

As you move through the course, you’ll see projected timeframes for different items. These are rough estimates and will vary based on your pace and familiarity with the subject.

For video content:

  • Foundational understanding: video length + 5 minutes
  • In-depth learning: up to 1.5× the video’s duration
  • Hands-on engagement: starts at 2× the video length and increases with note-taking, practicing, or working alongside the video

For articles:

  • Skimming will be quicker
  • Taking notes or working through examples will increase the time investment

Spending more time on a resource is never a bad thing—it means deeper engagement and learning. That said, please be mindful that if you spend more time than what is estimated, this will likely impact your ability to complete the course on time.

Mentor & Career Support

To get the most from the program, take full advantage of the support options available to you:

  • Attend all assigned mentor calls.
  • Book career coaching calls early and in the order they appear in your curriculum. Don’t wait until the end!
  • Use on-demand mentor calls for extra live support when you’re stuck.
  • Leverage TA support for asynchronous technical help whenever needed.

Making Progress in the Curriculum

You’ll move through the curriculum module by module. Here's how to keep your progress updated:

  1. Click into the module to access the content.
  2. Work through the material.
  3. Click "Mark Complete" or "Submit Project" when prompted.

Progress is only recorded if you mark items as complete—don’t skip this step!

Are There Deadlines in the Curriculum?

There are no fixed deadlines for individual assignments. However, you are expected to complete enough work each week to meet your weekly points goal and stay on track.

The most important deadline is your program end date—you must complete 100% of the course before this date.

Some units may include projects or assignments that must be submitted before you can progress to the next section.
